Exceptional Hackathon with Lasting Impact

Participating in the Web3, ICP, and Blockchain Technology hackathon at DMI St. Eugen University was a transformative experience that left a lasting impact on me. The event was impeccably organized, providing invaluable insights into blockchain technologies and hands-on sessions focused on canister development. The dedication and expertise of the mentors fostered an environment that encouraged learning, collaboration, and innovation.

This hackathon not only deepened my understanding of blockchain but also inspired me to venture into the EduTech space. The life changing Hackathon in Zambia.

Participating in the Web3, ICP and Blockchain Technology Hackathon at DMI St Eugene University in Lusaka was a life changing experience to me. This was a well planned event by Mzansi ICP which started with an Intensive 10 day online Bootcamp followed by the 2 days Hackathon and ended with an awareness seminar on Web3, ICP and Blockchain technology in March 2024. As a Blockchain Professional and certified Educator who recently graduated, I had a privilege and honor to present our fintech solution. Our team of 6 members is one of the top 10 teams selected from a group of 30 teams who participated in this competition. Our startup EasyTech Business Solutions Limited was born from this Hackathon event. We are developing a Markets Revenue Collection Management System for the Lusaka City Council. I was also honored to present on the Blockchain Enterprise at ICU during the Web3, ICP and Blockchain Technology awareness seminar. I'm grateful to my team members, Nancy, Lisa, Vernon, Reagan and Gift for entrusting me to be the CEO of our startup. This is truly a life changing experience for me and I believe Zambia will take the lead in emerging technologies and entrepreneurship through us as the pioneers. I'm looking forward to making our project idea a reality with the new skills and knowledge to code using the Motoko programming language on the ICP blockchain. My gratitude goes to Motley Institute of Business and Technology (MIBT), Mzansi ICP Hubs Network (South Africa), DMI St Eugene University, Information and Communication University (ICU) for making this event possible in Zambia.

Being part of Team #2 at the 2-day WEB3 hackathon for ICP and Blockchain technology was an exhilarating experience, especially considering it was my first-ever hackathon participation. From the moment we gathered, there was an electric atmosphere of creativity and collaboration. We brainstormed tirelessly, each member bringing their unique expertise to the table. Delving deeper into the challenge, we found ourselves immersed in coding marathons, fueled by passion and determination. Developing our project in the Motoko programming language added an extra layer of excitement and challenge. Our project, focused on fintech, aimed to harness the power of the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) and blockchain to create a decentralized multi-currency exchange system. The idea was chosen after extensive research and discussions on how we could make a meaningful impact on the African blockchain scene. Our system would allow people to transact in any currency regardless of the country, thereby breaking down barriers and promoting financial inclusivity across the continent. Despite the inevitable obstacles, our team remained resilient, pushing through late nights and debugging sessions. When judgment day arrived, we were nervous yet confident in our creation. The moment our team was announced as the first-place winners was surreal – a culmination of weeks of hard work, innovation, and teamwork. Winning the hackathon was more than just a victory; it was a validation of our dedication to pushing the boundaries of WEB3 technology. We're proud to have emerged as the top team and look forward to the positive impact our project will have on the African blockchain scene.

Participating in the ICP, Blockchain, and Web3.0 hackathon was a truly exhilarating experience for me and my team. From the outset, the boot camp provided us with a comprehensive understanding of Blockchain technology and its potential to transform the way we approach some of society's most pressing challenges. We learned how Blockchain's decentralized and secure nature can be leveraged to create innovative solutions that are transparent, efficient, and resilient.

As we progressed to the startup incubation program, we were equipped with essential business and leadership skills that enabled us to turn our ideas into tangible projects. We received guidance on market research, product development, and pitching our ideas to potential investors. Our team's dynamics and collaboration were also strengthened through this process.

The experience has been invaluable for my team and me. We have gained a clear direction and focus for founding our company and developing our project. We are now equipped with the knowledge, skills, and network to turn our vision into a reality.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Mzansi Web3, MIBT, ICU, and DMI for organizing and managing such a life-changing program for students. Their efforts have empowered us to become innovators and leaders in the Web3.0 space, and we are eager to make a positive impact in our communities and the world at large."
